Agenda 2: Notes of last meeting 11th November 09 were approved.
Agenda 3: Linnia Khemdoudi presented to the Forum on Quality Standards, giving insight into the work of the OFSTED inspector which proved an eye-opener for some forum members and invaluable to those already undergoing inspection.

Our thanks to Linnia for her thoroughness, clarity and an informal approach which enabled an interactive session.
Thanks are also due to the generosity of HACE who provided each TPF member with USB stick containing monitoring templates which can be adapted to their own use. (I will download these documents and they will be available to training providers on request – Nina)
Agenda 5: Neighbourhood Learning in Deprived Communities
TPF members’ achievements from last year’s awards:
- 5 new courses provided for VCS,
- 4 members qualifying for PTTLS
- congratulations.

The presentation details the priorities for this year’s NLDC set by the Skills Funding Agency. Our discussion concerned how the VCS in Hounslow is best placed to fulfil the priorities so we can work to our strengths. Between us we must achieve 300 learning experiences that will improve employability. We are not expected to get people into jobs – just to improve their chances.

- Community Leadership
- Learning Champions
- Support for TPF training leaders.- (CVSH & HACE will provide workshops)
- Financial feasibility, especially for hard to reach groups
- Soft skills
- Skills assessment
- Work Placement
- Partnerships (will be given preference this year)
- New training providers (will be encouraged to build training capacity)

The second meeting of the Training Providers’ Forum took place on the afternoon of November 11th 09 at the Meadowbank Adult Education Centre. Our thanks to Pauline Elgrew and Hounslow Adult Education for the use of one of the large and well-equipped classrooms within their attractive new centre.

The first meeting of he Training Providers’ Forum was held at Feltham Assembly Hall on the afternoon of May 27th 2009. The speakers were:
- Tebs Rashid, BTEG: ‘Training in the voluntary sector – the current context’ with discussion time and exchange of resources;
- Iain Bromley, Hounslow Adult and Community Education PTTLS tutor introducing The Preparing to Teach in Lifelong Learning course offered free to those interested in teaching in the post-compulsory sector 16+;
- Sagal Jama, CVS Hounslow with updates on ‘The Local Representation Network’.
News from the groups and networking time followed.
Since the meeting, we have set up an email group for circulating meeting notes, keeping in touch, networking, discussion and problem-solving.
